SAMS<\/strong> is one of the UK\u2019s leading marine scientific institutions. In 2013, SAMS became an Associate Institute of the United Nations University (UNU), firmly placing it as an international centre for marine research. Since 2000, SAMS has forged a major role in seaweed disease and biosecurity policy and research through Marie Curie Training Fellowships and UK initiatives, such as the NERC International Overseas Fund and the UKRI Global Challenges Research Fund, which awarded \u00a36.1M to the previous GlobalSeaweed-STAR programme.<\/p>\n

The GlobalSeaweed-SUPERSTAR team at SAMS is led by Professor Elizabeth Cottier-Cook<\/b><\/a> (Principal Investigator and Research Area Leader in Seaweed Resource Management).<\/p>\n<\/div>
